Truth triumphs, not falsehood. The learned ones always follow the path of truth. That is the highway of truth whereby go sages who left no desires unfulfilled. |
There is no religion greater than truth. There is no sin greater than falsehood. There is no knowledge better than truth. Therefore, one should follow truth. (Upanishad) |
One should always be ready to accept truth and to renounce untruth. One should always do everything according to the dictates of Dharma (Spirituality) i.e. after due reflection over right and wrong. (Dayanand) |

Spirituality is a journey to accept all that is true and of universal application, something that lets us connect directly with the Almighty God without any mediator. Just like nations are many but humanity is one, religions are many but Spirituality is one.
To know the truth, we must now find a source that is the most ancient and unchanged, a source that must have existed also with the earliest humans since the dawn of mankind because just like us, they must have also needed a source to find truth and true knowledge or Spirituality.
God, the creator of this universe first created whatever was necessary for human beings like the Sun, the Moon, the Earth, air, water etc. Entire humanity agrees that Rgveda is the oldest book in the library of mankind implying the most original source of Spirituality. The truth is that the four Vedas(Rgveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda) were revealed to the four Rsis or Saints at the dawn of mankind on the earth.
Lets now test these hypotheses . We just cannot believe something said by someone. Lets examine if this thing can pass the test of logic.
If Vedas are true or the first or most original source of Spirituality and Knowledge from the God, we must ask these questions? |
1. |
Are they of Universal application or were they meant for a particular set of people only ? We know that God’s word or the most original source of Spirituality and knowledge must be for one and all . |
2. |
If they are the word from God, are they in harmony with laws of the nature or they contain anything that is unscientific, illogical or subject to change as all man made things are? We cannot believe anything as God’s word if it contains anything that is illogical or contrary to laws of the nature. |
3. |
Do they advocate salvation of all or just the believers only as all religions do ? |
4. |
Did the language in which they are revealed existed before them or actually started with them. This is important because if the language of the Vedas i.e. Sanskrit existed before them, they cannot be called the first source since if the language had existed before them, some literature must also have existed before them. |
5. |
Is there any mention of any race, history or a country etc. in the Vedas because we know at the dawn of mankind no such thing had existed and if any such thing is found in any source or book, it must not be the most original or earliest literature for sure. |
6. |
If Vedas are the first and true source of knowledge and Spirituality, did they remain constant like the Sun and the Moon or did that knowledge change over time. A true word of God will need no revision, modification or correction. |
Our investigation reveals that : |
1. |
Vedas are of Universal application, they are for the entire humanity and not for a particular set of people only. |
2. |
Both the creation and the Vedas show harmony. For example, the earth is mentioned as bhugola, meaning that the earth is round like a sphere as is indeed the case. There is nothing in the Vedas that is contrary to what we see in the nature. Vedas contain all that makes sense and nothing illogical . They contain 20,360 mantras or hymns and still none of that can be proved illogical . There is no other known source of this vast knowledge that can claim such a record and that too being the most ancient body of literature known to mankind. |
3. |
Vedas show the path of salvation through Yoga , which is available to the entire mankind. |
4. |
Vedas gave rise to a language that is called SANSKRIT . This language did not exist before the Vedas. All agree that Sanskrit is the most ancient language man had ever known. God’s revelation of knowledge included the knowledge of the language called Sanskrit since it did not exist before the Vedas. |
5. |
There is no mention of any race, religion , history or country in the Vedas. No other spiritual book can claim such a record because they all are created after the Vedas and are man made and therefore mention race, religion, history, regions etc .that influenced their creation. Being the most original source that saw no such thing, Vedas do not mention any such thing at all. |
6. |
Vedas contain knowledge about both, matter and spirit. Regarding Matter, the knowledge is in the seed form leaving ample room for humans to discover further and create his/her own body of literature. Regarding Spirit, the knowledge is at its pinnacle that humans will never be able to add anything to it. It is unchangeable, it needs no revision, correction or modification and holds true at all times, past present and future. Vedas will always remain relevant like the sun is. |
The role of the Vedas as the original source of all true knowledge including Spirituality is that of the Sun albeit in the inner intellectual domains where humans must exhibit greater perseverance to dispel the darkness of untrue knowledge which leads to pains and agonies of much greater proportion. Lets us hope that the humanity will benefit from the Vedas as much as it benefits from the Sun, both having been created by the most benevolent and merciful God. |
